| I FINISHED THE KANSAS CITY MARATHON
I won't say how long it took, only that I ran longer than the winners -- and most of the rest of the pack.
I've never felt so much physical strain in my life. Luckily I was able to motivate every muscle, ligament and tendon in my body to accomplish this one goal. It's a really good thing they listened. I would have cried at the finish line had I not been so dehydrated. I made a not-so-amusing quip that the race is called the Waddell & Reed Marathon because that's all you can do the day after: waddle and read.
Don't think I'll be doing quite that distance anytime soon, but I will be working toward a fast half marathon time. For races, the early bird doesn't get the worm -- they get all the good stuff, including good food, beer and prizes.
Ironically: The faster the runner, the bigger the booty.
